Minister of Education Participates in Girls’ Education Forum 2016

H. E. Dr. Assadullah Hanif, Minister of Education of Afghanistan participated in the Girls’ Education Forum, 2016 that was held in London by the UK's Department for International Development (DFID), Global Citizen and Chime for Change.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hanif Ballkhy enumerated the achievements and challenges of the Afghan government with respect to education after the fall of the Taliban regime in the country expressing his appreciation of the International Community’s ongoing aids and assistance for the education sector of Afghanistan.
At the forum, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced $25 million of funding to establish a teacher apprenticeship program for adolescent girls in Afghanistan, preparing them to educate the next generation of girls
Meanwhile, Justine Greening, the international development secretary of the United Kingdome announced an additional $130 million of the British government aid budget will be channeled through its Girls Education Challenge increasing the size of the fund to support and deliver education and literacy to disadvantaged girls across the developing world who drop out of school or never even enter a classroom because of obstacles such as poverty, child marriage and early pregnancy.
