About the Steering Committee

STEERING COMMITTEE

The Steering Committee (25-30 members) will be formed on an annual basis. Members will include the HRDB Chair, Co-Chair, representatives from ministries (MoE, MoWA, MoHE, MoSLAMD and MoF), donors (supporting education, WB, DANIDA, CIDA, USAID, SIDA, Norway, German, Japan, Netherlands, India, France, AusAid, DIFD,) civil society organizations (Coordinating Bodies, ACBAR, ANCB, AWN, SCA, PACE-A),  private sector (Chamber of Commerce), UN (UNICEF, UNESCO, UNAMA), chair and co-chair of technical working groups and representatives of some Islamic countries.

The members of the Steering Committee will be nominated by their respective organization after being endorsed by the Chair and co-chair. The Steering Committee will meet a minimum of one time per month. Steering committee members should be a senior representative of their organization. Each organization is invited to send one observer to the meetings anticipating that they may be required to serve as an alternate when the official representative is unable to attend.

Role of the Steering Committee:

•    Oversee the membership and functioning of the working groups/taskforces;
•    Coordinate the activities of the HRDB;
•    Make recommendations on policy and programming based on the input of the HRBD working groups/taskforces and the HRDB Secretariat with the ability to coordinate donor funding where appropriate in support of it;
•    Ensures liaison with other education consultative groups.
